What’s usually hidden behind studio walls in Victoria will be on full display later this month.

Design Victoria returns April 30 to May 3, bringing more than 50 events to venues across the city and opening the doors to a design community that often works out of sight.

When Carla Sorrell launched the festival in 2023, the goal was simple. She wanted to connect a creative sector she felt was scattered across the region.

“I saw this sector in Victoria, the design sector, but I didn’t see it kind of coming together,” said Sorrell, the festival’s founder and director. “I thought I’d try and launch a festival off the side of my desk.”
