Curious about how shared spaces can better reflect and serve the full diversity of the community? Join this welcoming morning gathering centred on equity in the built environment.
Over coffee and snacks, community members of all ages, occupations, and interests are invited to collaborate and reflect on how the city’s design shapes daily life. Streets, housing, public spaces, transportation, and neighborhood planning all influence who feels safe, seen, and supported. In turn, the built environment shapes opportunity, connection, and belonging in both visible and invisible ways.
Rather than setting the agenda in advance, the event begins with participants generating questions that matter most to them. What feels urgent? overlooked? possible? Shared themes will then guide small-group conversations designed to spark thoughtful dialogue and collective insight.
The format is intentionally free-flowing, allowing ideas to deepen and build across discussions. The goal is not debate, but understanding—recognizing both the city’s strengths and the challenges that shape lived experiences.
As a part of BEA West’s ongoing work to advance awareness and implementation of equity in daily life and the built environment, all perspectives are welcome. Come for the coffee, stay for the conversation, and leave with new perspectives—and perhaps new possibilities!
This event is taking place in partnership with the Indigenous Roots Coffee morning.
