DAY
Friday, May 1st

Join Design Victoria and Indigenous Roots Coffee for daily conversations and connection. Each morning from 9:30-11am the Meeting Point will be the backdrop featured discussions and celebrations (see below), giving attendees time to connect and learn together.

Drop in for coffee and bannock from Indigenous Roots Coffee, meet fellow festival-goers, and take a moment to connect with the Design Victoria community. It’s a relaxed space to introduce yourself, make new connections, and explore the day’s festival events.

> Friday 1 May

From 9:30-10:00am, join Kear Porttris (Métis) and Natasha-Faye Parrish (Haida), owners of Indigenous Roots Coffee, for a land acknowledgement and a talk about the brand's design story.

From 10:15-10:45am, meet Carrie Smart, Maureen Elmer, Rick Clark, Breanne Des Roche and Jigna Vala—the design team behind this year’s Meeting Point installation—share a short talk about the collaborative process behind the project and how the concept came to life out of the Meeting Point Co-Design Challenge.

Come for the coffee, stay for the conversation, and start your day with community.
