Join the AFBC (Architecture Foundation of BC) for a guided architectural sketching tour through downtown Victoria. This relaxed, beginner-friendly event invites participants to slow down, observe the city more closely, and capture its architecture through quick sketches.
The event begins with a short introduction before heading out on a walking route through the city. At several stops along the way, there will be a pause for 15–20 minutes to look closely at key architectural elements — from proportions and materials to rhythm, light, and detail. At each location, participants will receive a simple sketching prompt designed to help translate what they see into quick, expressive drawings.
No sketching experience is required. All materials will be provided, including a sketchbook and a selection of drawing tools so you can experiment with different techniques.
The tour concludes at a gallery space where participants can pin up a selection of favourite sketches, share observations from the walk, and enjoy light snacks together. Whether you’re an architect, designer, or simply curious about the built environment, this is a chance to experience Victoria’s architecture in a hands-on and creative way.
